SalonCare is a reputable skincare brand that originated in South Africa 25 years ago and has since expanded internationally. Alongside their product line, SalonCare provides comprehensive cosmetology training to cosmetologists who use their products for administering effective skincare treatments. They approached us intending to create a dedicated testing website that would streamline the testing and grading process for their students.
The project for SalonCare aimed to achieve several goals and objectives focused on creating an efficient and user-friendly testing website tailored to their specific testing and grading needs. The primary goals included simplifying the testing and grading process for SalonCare’s students and implementing individual logins for each student, allowing them to have personalised profiles on the website.
Additionally, the project aimed to establish an email system that would promptly deliver test results to the program owners, ensuring efficient communication. Lastly, the website needed to provide students with their test results while preventing them from retaking the test to modify their answers. These objectives formed the foundation of our approach to address SalonCare’s requirements and create a successful testing website.
To achieve these goals, we designed and developed a dedicated testing website featuring a secure login that restricted students to taking the test only once. This ensured fairness and accuracy in the grading process. We implemented an automated email confirmation system that promptly notified students upon completing the test, along with their respective test results. Additionally, we created a separate email notification that consolidated the class results and delivered them to the program owners. To maintain focus during the test, we designed the website with a minimal and uncluttered interface. Furthermore, we ensured that access to the website was restricted to SalonCare students through a direct URL provided by the program managers, effectively preventing unauthorised access and spam attempts. The program owners were also notified whenever a new student initiated the test.
The implementation of the testing website yielded positive outcomes for SalonCare and its students. Students can effortlessly create an account, take the test, and receive their grades without any manual intervention from SalonCare. Immediate test result delivery provides timely feedback to students, aiding their progress and understanding. The program owners benefit from streamlined management as they receive automated notifications for each completed test and have the ability to download the test results via a convenient CSV file on the platform. Overall, the testing website has improved efficiency and convenience for both SalonCare and its students, enhancing the educational experience within the cosmetology training program.
